I hope so. I've never been a big fan of pad Thai, but I've ridden my scooter a long way when I've found good khao soi. I lived in Lampang and could find it easily, then moved to Surat Thani, where a restaurant opened while I was there. I visited at least weekly. Often the only farang, usually a good sign.
Khao soi has been on my local Vancouver, WA restaurant menus for some time now, and is one of my favorite soup noodle dishes. Just recently, I discovered a local Beaverton, Oregon Thai restaurant serving a dry version, khao soi hang, which is now my new favorite noodle dish!
