Sawaddee Pee Mai 2567! (Happy New Year 2024) ๐๐ผ
To close off the year 2023 (or the year 2566 in Thailand) I wanted to do something fun and different, so my brother Art suggested a โtier list.โ
I had never heard of a tier list before (I guess Iโm old, lol) but itโs been a very popular way of ranking things on the Internet. You can find tier lists on YouTube on all sorts of topics, and so it's about time we make one for Thai food!
Now, it wouldn't make sense to try to rank dishes according to โhow good they are,โ because every dish can be good or bad depending on how they are made and who made them.
But what is possible and more useful is for me to rank dishes according to how likely they are to be satisfactory when you go to an average Thai place in North America! Weโre not talking hipster, fancy, fine dining places here, weโre talking about your average cheap and cheerful takeout places!
This is all according to my standard and based on my experience of course, as tier lists are meant to be a personal ranking, not meant to be generalized. SO that means you can make your own tier list based on your experience, too!
I had to much fun filming this, and I hope you have fun watching it too!!! Happy New Year!
Thanks for sharing this! Now I no longer need to act as a consultant to my friends. Iโm going to point them to your video. I also used to use Pad Thai as the gauge of a restaurant and came to the same conclusion. No one will make it as well as my mom, unless I go to Thailand.
This was so fun! Tell your brother this was a great idea! It wasnโt on your list, but I recently went to a restaurant called Sisters in Fairfax, VA and tried ba mee poo moo dang for the first time and it was so good, I didnโt even pour the broth over it lol. I wanted to try a few bites dry, then some with the broth, but I couldnโt stop after the first bite ๐
