🎄Some Thai Flavor for the Holidays!
Unexpectedly delicious ways to add a taste of Thailand to your holidays.
Sawaddee ka! 🙏🏼
Just like Thanksgiving isn’t celebrated in Thailand, neither is Christmas - but as I’ve mentioned before, living in North America always makes me want to find interesting ways to blend both cultures (interesting and delicious!). 🎄
And isn’t that a big part of what the holidays are all about? Blending traditions and sharing food? Sparking nostalgia but also putting a new spin on old favourites? It’s what makes this time of year so special!
Today I’m sharing 5 dishes that bring a little taste of Thailand to the festivities. There’s a little bit of everything - savories, sides, sweets, snacks and sips. Enjoy!
Wishing you all the happiest of holidays!
Roast Beef Tenderloin and Thai Gravy
If you are having roast beef, you have GOT to try this Thai gravy. With a uniquely lively and just a wee bit of spice, it’ll brighten up the whole table. Goes perfectly with the tender, perfectly cooked Roast Beef Tenderloin. Cooking a large piece of meat can be intimidating but don’t worry, this one is easy. I’ll walk you through it step by step! It’ll earn you some well deserved oooohs and ahhs when it hits the dinner table!
Soy Caramel Roasted Kabocha Squash
Skip the butternut and go for kabocha. It’s sweeter, creamer, and you don’t have to peel it! Squash is a traditional Christmas side dish but Soy Caramel Roasted Kobocha Squash topped with roasted garlic and a little Thai basil oil takes it to a whole other world.
Note: You can use any squash in this dish and while the recipe is simple, I include some extra short cuts with the written recipe to save you even more time!
Singapore Cookies
Singapore Cookies were one of my favourite treats as a kid. These buttery, shortbread style sesame cookies topped with cashews are a great addition to holiday treat trays, cookie swaps, or to give as gifts… or eat yourself!
Coconut Sesame Candied Peanuts
Is it even the holidays if there aren’t some nuts to snack on? Coconut Sesame Candied Peanuts take me right back to childhood (that holiday nostalgia factor!) and they are utterly addictive. If you loved sesame snaps as a kid you won’t be able to get enough of these crunchy treats.
Thai Iced Coffee Cocktail
That brings us to the sips. Wrapping up any holiday get together always includes a fancy adult drink. Treat your guests to something different with this dark, rich, oh so chocolatey Thai Iced Coffee Cocktail. It’s a luxurious after dinner treat and it would be delicious way to welcome the New Year!
