Sawaddee ka! đđŒ
Just like with Motherâs Day, when it comes to recipe ideas for Fatherâs Day⊠I have no idea what those are supposed to be! The media like to offer âmanlyâ dishes full of meats and grill marksâŠas if only men enjoyed such foods đ.
So Iâve decided to share some of the dishes that my dad and my sonâs dad love more than any others. Iâm guaranteed two thumbs up when I make one of these! đđŒđđŒ
Give them a try for one of the dadâs in your world - the bonus is that most of them are easy enough to make any night of the week!
Rad Na (Lad Na)
Rad Na is one of my dadâs favorite street food dishes and one of the most underrated Thai noodles. You rarely see it in North American Thai restaurants (and what you can get is typically not great). This pork gravy and chewy rice noodle combo was a regular in our home growing up, and maybe it could be yours, too?
Seafood Dipping Sauce
My dad is a big fan of fresh steamed crab (but I mean really, who isnât?) and crab is abundant in Thailand. This tart and spicy Seafood Dipping Sauce is an absolute must-have with any seafood dish - it doesnât cover up the flavour, it enhances it!
PS - you can see my dad in action prepping crabs for our dinner in this video of what I eat in a day when Iâm in Thailand! đŠ
Thai Fried Chicken - Hat Yai Style
My dad looooooooves fried chicken - normally in the form of KFC đ€Ł. But I maintain that Thai Fried Chicken - specifically Hat Yai style (HFC!) - is the best in the world. Lays even turned it into a chip flavour! We all love this dish and itâs a great treat to make for dad.
Cashew Chicken
Cashew Chicken is my husbandâs #1 favourite Thai dish, and before I entered his life, it was his regular Thai takeout meal. (Needless to say he no longer gets Thai takeout). Iâve put together a whole guide to help you make the most flavourful version of this stir fry at home!
Steamed Fish With Black Bean Sauce
Steamed Fish with Black Bean Sauce is actually one of my Mother-in-lawâs recipes - possibly her âsignature dishâ! Itâs also one of my husbandâs top 2 favourite dishes that his mom makes (the other being her Tomato Beef Stir Fry which I recently shared a recipe for). And⊠itâs easy and quick enough to make any night of the week! đ
Got a Dad Who Loves to Cook?
My new cookbook, SABAI, would make a great Fatherâs Day gift for the dad who loves being in the kitchen or trying to cook something new. Itâs beginner-friendly and the dishes are all about easy, weeknight Thai cooking!

Palin, would you consider doing a series or maybe some videos of Thai fusion food? I love Thai flavors and want to k own if there's fusion food with other cultures but can't find very much good quality information.
