Sawaddee Ka 🙏🏼
Sooooo excited for this video! We shot this during my recent trip home to Thailand, and it’s on a subject I’m very passionate about: how to order (or cook) a well-balanced Thai meal.
Because a traditional Thai meal consists of multiple dishes, the right combination of dishes can be the difference between a good and a GREAT meal.
This has been on my mind since I wrote my first book, and if you have it, you will notice a section about it in Part 1. But it’s such an important issue that I want it to reach a wider audience, and it can also benefit from a visual. Hence this video:
Thai people have a way of ordering food that keeps the balance of the whole meal in mind. I’ve done this, and seen my family and friends do this, all my life. But I never took notice of it until I came to Canada and saw my Canadian friends order Thai food. I then realized that we were doing something more than just ordering what we want to eat.
This is a very intuitive process for Thai people, but in this video I broke down our thought process into a simple cheat code that you can easily remember and follow the next time you order (or cook) a Thai meal.
BONUS FOOD VLOG!
The second half of the video is a fun food vlog. Since we’re in Thailand, in addition to the educational part of the video I also included some fun, interesting Thai dishes that you can’t easily find outside of Thailand!
Special thanks to my friend and her family who own Ajarn Mallika, the restaurant we visited to film this video. The restaurant location and recipes of many dishes featured are in the description of the YouTube video!
